You Asked for It Teaching Series

You Asked for It

We asked our community to submit their biggest questions in life, with a commitment that we would teach on the top five. After hundreds of submissions and thousands of votes, we created the “You Asked for It” teaching series, which included the following messages to address the following questions:

  • How can I have purpose in my life?
  • If God is in control, what impact do my choices have?
  • How do I learn or know if God is speaking to me?
  • LGBTQ — What does the Bible really say and why does it matter?
  • How do I deal with my anxiety, emptiness, or depression?

How Can I Have Purpose in My Life

Pastor Andy Wood unpacks how discovering and experiencing God’s purpose for your life leads to joy.

Key Scripture

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. — Matthew 22:37-38

If God Is in Control, What Impact Do My Choices Have?

Pastor David Hibiske discusses fate and free will through God’s sovereignty.

Key Scripture

The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. — Genesis 2:15

How Do I Learn or Know If God Is Speaking to Me?

It can be difficult to know when God is speaking to us. Pastor Andy Wood explores how we can communicate with God, how he communicates with us, and what barriers prevent us from hearing all he has to say.

Key Scripture

“The farmer sows the word. Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.” — Mark 4:14-20

LGBTQ — What Does the Bible Really Say and Why Does It Matter?

In this incredibly poignant message, pastor Andy Wood addresses one of the toughest questions followers of Jesus face: what does the Bible really say about LGBTQ, and is it still relevant today? The answer can be found through grace and truth.

Key Scripture

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. — John 1:14

How Do I Deal With My Anxiety, Emptiness, or Depression?

Pastor Filipe speaks about the significance of one’s life purpose for dealing with anxiety and depression.

Key Scripture

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” — John 16:33
