SEPTEMBER 26

Hey friends,

We are getting close to the end of our prayer initiative. Just 5 more days! I hope this time has been helpful. I’m excited to hear that many of you are beginning to pray bold prayers and you are seeing God move in your life as a result!

One of my wildest experiences in prayer happened right after we first moved to the Bay Area in 2008. I remember being in my living room on my knees before God. We had an old green couch that our previous neighbors had given to us. Part of the reason I remember it is because the couch smelled pretty bad and was falling apart underneath the cushions. It was literally all we could afford in our first few years of marriage.

As we were in the process of launching our church, I remember feeling so helpless and dependent upon God. If He didn’t show up, nothing would work. To be honest, I still feel the same way – especially right now as I write this. We are working towards having our first physical gatherings for worship since the COVID-19 pandemic began earlier this year in March. We launched a digital church in March, and now we are reimagining how to safely and wisely relaunch our physical church. We need the Holy Spirit’s help.

So, that brings me back to the green couch. One day, I was praying on my knees, and the apartment where we lived began to shake. I began to wonder if my prayers were shaking the heavens.

This actually happened in the book of Acts as well, as the early believers prayed…

“And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us your servants, great boldness in preaching your word. Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

“After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness.”

I love this prayer, and I love God’s immediate response. This is exactly what I’m praying for right now for you! I’m praying that God would fill us with His boldness. So many people are living in fear right now. We need the Holy Spirit to make us bold.

Would you pray with me today that God would fill us, His Church, with His boldness?

You might pray something like this…

“Dear Father, I ask that you would stretch your hand right now. Please fill us with your boldness. We need you. We need you to give us faith. Make us the kind of people who are willing to do whatever it takes to share your Good News with others. Let this season of our lives result in a great harvest of souls. Fill us with your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

May you be filled with His boldness today!

With love,

Pastor Andy
