SEPTEMBER 4
Welcome back!
I hope that yesterday was a special day of intercession.
Today, we are going to pray for more love in our lives and in our church.
I want to encourage you to take a few minutes to read all of 1 Corinthians 13.
(Go ahead, I’ll wait while you do.)
Can you tell that love is a really big deal to God? There are so many New Testament verses on love. I want to encourage you to do a word study sometime. Jesus and all His people were all about love.
Now meditate on this one…
1 Corinthians 14:1 (NLT): “Let love be your highest goal!”
Let’s pray today that The Holy Spirit grows our ability to love.
First of all, ask God to help you see His love for you. You might even turn over to Romans 5:5, and ask The Holy Spirit to help you see you the way He sees you.
Now, ask Him to help our church be known for love. Ask Him to form our community into a community that puts the goals and interests of others above our own.
You can pray something like this:
Now, today, take this prayer with you throughout the day to your Zoom calls, your class at school, your interactions with your neighbors or roommate. Let’s make love our highest goal today.
Love,
Pastor Andy

Help our church be known for love. This country sure needs a church that would look like that.
And the greatest of these is love. Father, I pray today that our church would be an over flowing fountain of love. Amen.
My dearest abba,
Let the Holy Spirit work within me and this church community as we make deep rooted relationships with others, so that when they see our action of love they are convicted and filled with desire to know you. May we be the brightest lit path to you during this uncertain time so that they my know your supernatural peace, that comes with faith, hope and the greatest of these love in you. In Jesus mighty name.
Amen
Help our community to spread love all day. Amen.

This tracks with my Psalm reading this morning. Psalm 97:10 “Let those who love the Lord hate evil”.
We can not condone evil in this world and say that we love God. We either have a distorted view of God or we are fooling ourselves.
We need to always “lead with love”. That is what I told my kids growing up and what I daily remind myself of every day.
“Let love be your highest goal!” Jesus I pray that you fill my heart with joy and love for others. Let me be the love and light that others need so desperately right now. Allow me to be compassionate towards others when I’m volunteering so that they will see your love shining through me and seek you when they need help in the future.
