SEPTEMBER 11

Hi Echo Family,

Before we begin, I firstly wanted to acknowledge the gravity of today, particularly for those who suffered unimaginable loss on this day in 2011. I am lifting you up today in my personal prayer time – that in the midst of grief and remembrance, you would also be able to experience God’s peace and comfort.

There is so much that our limited human understanding can’t fully know… why things happen, or where exactly God is in the midst of uncertainty. I feel like this is true now especially.

Have you at all wondered what God’s will is for your life? In recent months, it can seem like it’s so hard to discern God’s will during this time.

There is often a lot of confusion about God’s will. But God’s will is usually more about who than what. That means that God is more concerned with the kind of person you are becoming. The right person usually chooses the right path.

For the next few days, we are going to look at several specific prayers from Paul’s letters in the New Testament. Read these two verses and meditate on them for a couple minutes.

Colossians 1:9-10: “So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of His will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding.”

Let’s take some time right now to ask The Holy Spirit to help us see the Father’s heart.

Ask Him for leadership and guidance in a specific area of your life.

Also as you pray, ask Him to give you greater understanding of the kind of person He wants you to become.

Take a few moments to pray that God would help us grow in His knowledge as a church. This would also be a great day to bring before The Lord a big decision you are making. Perhaps you are deciding about a job, a career change or a family decision.

He wants to lead you. Just ask Him.

You might pray something like this:

“Father, thank you for caring about me. Thank you for leading and guiding my life. I submit to your direction. Please increase my knowledge of your heart. Please guide my steps today and increase my understanding. Please help me see this season of my life the way you see. Please increase passion for your Word in the hearts of the people of Echo Church.”

With love,

Pastor Andy
